Liatiko Kedros 2022

Single Area

Rose Dry Wine

On the foothills of Mt. Kedros, farmers traditionally keep a low bush vine format in order to protect their fruit under the rich foliage. Shielded against Mt. Psiloritis winds and the strong Cretan sunshine on altitudes exceeding 800m, this pre-phylloxera Liatiko is being grown here for over a century. A wine with pale salmon colour and a steely mouth, characteristic of the firmness of its origin.

Culture

Kedros vineyard is close to Gerakari in Amari, Rethymnon, an area that seems to have been blessed by nature in return for its isolated character. The highest mountain that dominates this place, Kedros, may be bare of trees, but its water springs favor a multitude of crops. Gerakari’s trademark are the cherries, which are produced by thousands of cherry trees, however all kinds of other fruits are also cultivated.  For nature lovers, this place is a paradise, either to walk the rugged paths of Kedros and be enchanted by its waterfalls or to admire the rare tulips of the species Tulipa Doerfleri in the unique plateau of Gious. Of great interest are also the Byzantine churches, such as Agios Ioannis in Fotis and that of Agios Ioannis and Agia Anna in the deserted settlement of Gurgouthi.
