Nikos Somarakis has been part of our team since 2007, when he first joined in as an oenology student. 15 years later, he is now our viticulturist and vineyard manager. Basically, he is the man behind the family owned vineyards of Lyrarakis and the person who gives all the guidelines followed by our partner growers. A man with the warmest bright smile and a great understanding of this land, he treats the vineyards just like people, with respect, kindness and genuine care. He has a Master’s degree in Viticulture and Oenology but he has also studies in NLP and psychotherapy. As he believes, the human relationships around the vineyards are equally important and he is interested in cultivating positive and healthy emotions besides grapes. When he is not among vines, he loves to read, run and grab his camera to photograph places and faces. Last but not least, he plays the Cretan lyra and he is a great dancer!
