Culture

"Armi" vineyard is located in the administrative boundaries of Douli, a small mountainous settlement in the Municipality of Gortyna, Heraklion Prefecture. It is a very green area and its population is engaged in the cultivation of vines and olives, but also animal husbandry.

Douli’s past dates back to the Venetian occupation, as evidenced by the frescoed church of Saint Nikolaos located within the village. In the nearby settlement of Genna, a Roman bath has been discovered and it is believed that when a formal excavation takes place, more finds from the period 68BC - 395AD will be unearthed, due to the proximity of the area to the ancient Roman capital of Crete, Gortyna.
